Apparently, a post that was saved as private to your own blog will still show up on a tag page if you tagged it. Interesting.

To you, or the general public? It will always show up for you.

Ah—I hadn't thought of that. If you go to the Planelopnik page, do you see a post titled "AUS, November 18"?

Yeah, I do... yesterday, around 4pm.
It's also on your main page.

Exactly. I was interested in sharing some photos with my brother, so I thought I'd put them on my personal blog and then send him a link. But I tagged the post "Planelopnik" and it showed up there anyway.

Interesting. I wanted to share the photos and text with my brother, and thought that might be a good way to do it. I guess I'll leave the tag off next time. Thanks for checking.

It will only be private if it's explicitly saved as private, which is just another way of saying draft. Saving as public makes it readily viewable for anyone, doubly so if it's been tagged.
As you mentioned , keeping the post untagged will help, but it will still be visible to anyone visiting your page or searching Kinja for keywords which are present in the post as long as it's been saved as public.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
We plan to address this in a neat way moving forward, allowing you to share posts with a select audience. Stay tuned.

Thanks. Good info here. I follow the principle that if you don't want the world to know, don't put it on the Internet. So there's nothing personal or salacious in my posts. But I thought I had saved it as Private, though switching to Public has become somewhat of an automatic action.
Which, if I may change the subject, actually leads me to two quibbles with the new editor (which I like very much generally). One, I think the Publish button ought to default to Public rather than Private. I would guess that most of the posting that's done here is meant to be public. Secondly, I miss the autocomplete on Tags. While the new editor is certainly cleaner, it seems to have led to more mouse clicks rather than fewer.
Thanks again.
